What to Expect

We at Crossroads Veterinary Clinic in Thunder Bay have assembled an expert team of veterinary professionals to bring you the best possible healthcare for your pet. Our newly renovated veterinary facility is modern, clean, and comfortable. Call 807-939-2616 to schedule an appointment and we will find a time that is convenient for you.

Once a year, you should bring your pet in for a check-up. This includes a full physical exam, and may include other treatments such as blood work, fecal/urine testing, ear cleaning, and teeth and gum cleaning if needed. The doctors will check the health of your pet from head to tail!

Upon your first visit, please bring in any medical history you have of your pet. Please advise us of any changes to their health, including behavioural shifts, and anything else you think is important.

Specialist Referrals

In some circumstances, the veterinarians may refer you to a specialist who has advanced expertise in areas such as internal medicine or surgery.

Surgery

Surgery animals are asked to be dropped off at the clinic between 7:30 am – 8:00 am the morning of their surgery. A reminder that your pet should have no food after 7:00 pm the night before, with water taken away first thing in the morning. In the morning a staff member will arrange with you a pick-up time for your pet for the afternoon. A week after surgery, we will call you to follow up on your pet’s recovery and help with any questions or concerns.

If you have any questions regarding the surgery or your pet’s recovery, please do not hesitate to call the clinic.

The Veterinary Client Patient Relationship

The Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) is established when a veterinarian commits to caring for an individual pet, the client agrees to follow the veterinarian’s advice, and the veterinarian possesses sufficient recent knowledge of the pet for diagnosis and treatment; this relationship is maintained for mutual confidence and benefit, but may be discontinued under specified circumstances.
