Veterinarians:

Dr. Bart Marjerrison:

Dr. Bart has been practicing since 1970; he started Crossroads in 2006 with another veterinarian.  Bart took over the practice completely in 2008.  Bart has had an extraordinary career and offers this clinic years of experience and wisdom.  Bart spends the majority of his time managing the clinic, but still does appointments and has a no nonsense approach and has clients who have stayed loyal to him for years.

Dr. Suzanne (Sue) Legge:

Dr. Sue has been practicing since 1988.  Sue is trained in Animal Chiropractic and Acupuncture Therapy and is also trained in Rehabilitation Therapy through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Florida. Sue has been with Crossroads since 2008 and brings an uncommon passion and energy to her work and has new clients daily requesting to see her. Sue has a special interest in sports medicine and pain management and is always upgrading her knowledge and expertise in all areas of medicine.

Dr. Matt Yerxa:

Dr. Matt has been with Crossroads working on a part-time basis for the past couple of years.He is currently at Crossroads on Saturdays, Matt graduated in ­­­­2006,  he is a very dedicated and caring vet and is liked and appreciated by both staff and clients.

Dr. Alex Kozak:

Dr. Kozak started at Crossroads in January 2013.  Alex was born and raised in Thunder Bay; she completed her veterinary schooling in England in ­2011 and worked in a small animal clinic in California for 2 years prior to moving back to Thunder Bay.  Alex is a very cheerful person who appreciates all aspects of veterinary medicine and enjoys meeting clients and new pets.

Alex is a great volunteer for Kitty Kare as her house is always full of rescued cats. She enjoys camping, running and spending time with her family and friends. 


Technicians:

Katrina (Kat) Holmwood:

Kat started part time with Crossroads as a technician back in 2006 and moved to full time in 2008.  In 2015 Kat became clinic manager as well. Katrina’s technical skills are hard to match, she is also quite capable of handling anything that comes her way, from front end work to tech work she has it covered. Kat has a tremendous sense of humor and is always fun to be around.

Katrina and her boyfriend Les,have a beautiful daughter named Paizlee as well as 3 dogs (Rukus, Zeuse & Circa) and 1 cat (Dexter).  Kat enjoys camping, fishing, quadding and most of all spending time with family and friends.

Jessica (Jess) Kangas:

Jess started with us May of 2011 and is our second technician.  Jess was straight out of school when she started but has learned the ropes and has proven to be a valuable and welcome addition to our team.  Jess always has a smile on her face and is always willing to teach and lend a hand.

Jessica and her husband Jon live at home with their dogs (Willow & Zeus) and 3 cats (Henry, Arnie & Ava).  In her spare time, Jess enjoys hiking with their dogs, camping, fishing and computer games which she is extremely good at.

Trista King:

Trista joined our team in early 2015. She graduated from the veterinary technician program at Northern College in 2006. Trista is an experienced tech and is always willing to help where she can.

Trista has a large family at home which include her husband, two sons, 3 dogs and 6 cats.

Angela (Ange) Speers:

Ange joined our team June 2015. She is our newest technician and just starting out as she is a recent graduate. Ange also attended Northern College for her veterinary technician course as well as companion animal physical rehab as well.

Ange grew up in Aylmer Ontario and moved to Thunder Bay in May 2015. She lives with her boyfriend Morgan, her dog (Buddy) and 4 cats (Para,Ravi.Cali and Bree). She enjoys reading, netflix, video games and of course spending time with all her animals.


Reception:

Sandra Corbett:

Sandra started at Crossroads in May of 2012; She is now considered our 'Head Receptionist". Sandra is always very friendly and works hard at making our clients feel welcome and comfortable.

Outside of work Sandra enjoys camping and fishing with her husband Jeff and two shih tzu's Rolo and Petey. But her all time favorite past time in the winter is watching her Montreal Canadians take the ice. 

Candace Shiels:

Candace started at Crossroads in November 2014 as a receptionist. She really enjoys the fast pace of the clinic and interacting with our patients and clients. Candace is always cheerful and pleasant to anyone she meets.

Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband Michael and their 2 children Brady and Mikayla, along with there dog Hunter and 3 cats Dexter, Saphira and Snickers. Candace enjoys shopping, camping, fishing and going to the states to watch stock car races when she can.

Tara Gilbert:

Tara is our newest receptionist starting with us in May 2015. She loves working at the clinic as she has always wanted to work with animals. Tara is catching on to the computer systems and improving everyday.

Tara has 3 wonderful children named Brendan, Bailey and Morgan. Along with 3 dogs, Myya, Bindee, and Lacey. Also 5 cats Ringo, Scooter, Petrie, Callie and Penny. Oh and dont forget the chickens. Tara has taught piano for many years as well as playing the organ at 3 different churches around town. 


Assistants:

Justin Young:

Justin started with the clinic in May of 2011, he works mostly in the back, preparing animals for surgery,  helping the vet's where needed, making sure the surgery and prep areas are clean and ready to go. With Justin’s background as a ‘professional dog handler’ he is able to settle unruly, scared and even aggressive dogs and cats with ease. Justin is always a pleasure to be around and never backs down from any challenges presented to him. He is extremely professional and an asset to the clinic.

Amber Covello:

Amber with " Nemo " Levanen

Amber started in January of 2011 and works part time at the clinic. Amber helps out in all aspects of the clinic, from reception to assisting the vets in the back with animals and is a great addition to our team.

Amber is currently in her first year of University in Guelph to become a veterinarian. Amber has one dog and three horses.  In her spare time she enjoys going for walks with her dog, Riley and riding her horses (Regal, Cass & Strayga)

Patti Dunfield:

Patti started with us in August 2014 and works full time. Patti works in the back dealing with whatever comes her way, She has a few scars to prove it. She has shown to be a great addition to our team with her excellent knowledge of animals.

Patti has grown up with animals her whole life. Anything from farm animals,companion animals and even exotics. She started showing horses at age 10 and is still going strong. Patti also bred appaloosa horses for many years and continues to show them. She also enjoys spending time with her 5 dogs and cat along with her chickens and sheep.


Bookkeeping and Payroll:

Dianne Johnston:

Dianne has also been with Crossroads since 2008 and does all of the bookwork and payroll involved in running the clinic.  Dianne has vast experience and is a valuable asset to the clinic.
