Dr. Bart Marjerrison:
Dr. Bart has been practicing since 1970; he started Crossroads back in 2006 with another veterinarian, but took over the practice completely in 2008. Bart has had an extraordinary career and offers this clinic years of experience and wisdom. Along with managing the clinic he also manages his boarding kennel, which leaves him with very little spare time. Bart has a no nonsense approach to his work and has many clients who have stayed loyal to him over the years. .
In his spare time he enjoys going out to his cottage, fishing, hockey and tending to his many animals at home.
Dr. Suzanne (Sue) Legge:
Dr. Sue has been practicing since 1988. She is trained in Animal Chiropractic and Acupuncture Therapy and is also trained in Rehabilitation Therapy through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Florida. Sue has been with Crossroads full time since 2008. She brings an uncommon passion and energy to her work. Sue has a special interest in sports medicine, pain management and is always upgrading her knowledge and expertise in all areas of medicine.
On her down time, Sue really enjoys field training with flatcoated retrievers, reading and anything nature related.
Dr. Matthew (Matt) Yerxa:
Dr. Matt has been with Crossroads since 2011.He started working part-time and soon after moved to full time. Matt graduated in 2006 from Atlantic Veterinary College in Price Edward Island. In 2008 he moved to Thunder Bay to pursue his career. Matt works here at Crossroads as well as runs a mobile equine practice. Matt is a very dedicated and caring veterinarian that is liked and appreciated by both staff and clients alike.
During his spare time Matt takes care of his farm that consists of many cows and a few horses. In the winter, his time is spent playing hockey whenever he can.
Dr. Alexandra (Alex) Kozak:
Dr. Alex started at Crossroads in January 2013. Alex was born and raised in Thunder Bay; she completed her veterinary schooling in England in 2011 and worked in a small animal clinic in California for 2 years prior to moving back to Thunder Bay. Alex is a very cheerful person who appreciates all aspects of veterinary medicine and enjoys meeting clients and their pets.
Alex is a great volunteer for Kitty Kare as her house is always full of rescued cats as well as rescue failures that have become family. Alex and her fiancé Steve enjoy camping, running and spending time with family and friends.
Katrina (Kat) Holmwood:
Kat started part time with Crossroads as a technician back in 2006 and moved to full time in 2008. In 2015 Kat became clinic manager as well. Katrina’s technical skills are hard to match, she is also quite capable of handling anything that comes her way, from front end work to tech work she has it covered. Kat has a tremendous sense of humor and is always fun to be around.
Kat and her boyfriend Les,have a beautiful daughter named Paizlee as well as 3 dogs ( Zeuse, Deacon & Circa) ,1 cat (Dexter) and many fish. Kat enjoys camping, fishing, quadding, swimming and most of all spending time with family and friends.
Angela (Ange) Speers:
Ange joined our team June 2015. She attended Northern College for her veterinary technician course as well as companion animal physical rehab as well.
Ange grew up in Aylmer Ontario and moved to Thunder Bay in May 2015. She lives with her fiancé Morgan, her dogs (Buddy) and (Nally), along with her clowder of cats . She enjoys to crochet, read, watch netflix, play video games and of course spending time with all her animals.
Erin started at Crossroads back in 2007 as an assistant. In 2010 she left briefly to go back to school and returned to the clinic 2016 as a technician. Erin is a lover of all animals but has a soft spot for cats. She grew up on a horse farm here in Thunder Bay and has enjoyed working with animals ever since.
Outside of work Erin really loves to spend time with her 6 cats and 2 australian shepherds Jax and Floyd. She enjoys running, wood working, gardening, camping and hiking. Anything that involves being outside Erin is sure to be there.
Sandra started at Crossroads in May of 2012; She is now considered our 'Head Receptionist". Sandra is always very friendly and works hard at making our clients feel welcome and comfortable.
Outside of work Sandra enjoys camping and fishing with her husband Jeff, son Jake and two shih tzu's Rolo and Petey. But her all time favorite past time in the winter is watching her Montreal Canadians take the ice.
Candace started at Crossroads in November 2014 as a receptionist. She really enjoys the fast pace of the clinic and interacting with our patients and clients. Candace is always cheerful and pleasant to anyone she meets.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband Michael and their 2 children Brady and Mikayla, along with their dog Hunter and 6 cats Dexter, Saphira, Snickers, Leo, Kylo and Willy. Candace enjoys shopping, camping, fishing and going to the states to watch stock car races when she can.
Justin started at Crossroads in May of 2011. He began as an assistant helping out in the back, but has since moved to front reception supervisor. Justin is always a pleasure to be around and never backs down from any challenges presented to him.
Outside of work his hobbies include camping, fishing, playing baseball and spending time with his girlfriend Michelle.
Shelley joined our team in Jan 2017. She is mostly front end reception but can handle things in the back as well. She is a versatile employee with years of experience in customer service.
When she is not at work, Shelley enjoys camping, fishing and relaxing with her dog Blaze and cat Lily. She likes to spend time with her husband Robert, kids Krissy, Jamie, Nichole and especially her granddaughter Emily.
Christine is our newest reception team member. She started in May 2018 as a receptionist. Christine has been picking up quickly and can handle our busy and fast paced front end. From the phones to dealing with clients she can handle what comes her way.
When she is not at work she enjoys spending time with her husband Mark and three beautiful daughters, Adrienne, Melissa and Jessica. Also cant forget about Mini her little dog. She likes to scrapbook and watch/help with all her daughters events such as acting and gymnastics.
Patti started with us in August 2014 and works full time. Patti works in the back dealing with whatever comes her way, She has a few scars to prove it. She has shown to be a great addition to our team with her excellent knowledge of animals.
Patti has grown up with animals her whole life. Anything from farm animals,companion animals and even exotics. She started showing horses at age 10 and also bred appaloosa horses for many years. She enjoys spending time with her boyfriend Kevin along with her many animals which includes dogs, cats, horses, goats, cows and chickens.
Krissy is the newest member of our assistant team. She is always on the move, from laundry to cleaning kennels or loving up our clinic cat Mouse, Krissy is always keeping busy.
In her time away from work, Krissy is finishing up her schooling. She is an amazing artist and spends many hours drawing and gaming. One of her pieces of art can be seen at the clinic, which is a picture of our clinic cat Mouse.
Noah joined our team as a co-op student back in 2016. He began working with us after co-op ended as well as attending school. He is a great helper and a friendly team member.
When he is not working or in school, Noah enjoys going to the gym, hockey, volley ball, hanging out with friends and traveling.
Bookkeeping and Payroll:
Dianne has been with Crossroads since 2008 and does all of the book work and payroll involved in running the clinic. Dianne has vast experience and is a valuable asset to the clinic.
Dianne enjoys playing cards, spending time with family and friends and anything to do with animals. She loves her horses as she owns a few herself. Her love for animals keep her quite busy when not at work.
